the studio

KAAF Studio is a printmaking and visual arts space dedicated to nurturing artistic practice, collaboration and learning in Srinagar. Conceived as both a working studio and a site for exchange, it brings together emerging artists, students and established practitioners to explore the expansive possibilities of print as a contemporary medium.

The studio is rooted in a commitment to rigorous craft and sustained experimentation, while remaining attentive to the cultural and artistic histories that shape the region. At KAAF, printmaking is understood not only as a technical discipline but as a language of storytelling and reflection. Through residencies, workshops, exhibitions and open studio initiatives, the space encourages artists to develop their individual practices while engaging in dialogue with peers and mentors from across India and beyond.

By creating opportunities for hands-on learning and meaningful interaction, KAAF seeks to bridge local artistic communities with wider networks of practice. The studio also aims to position Srinagar as an active site of contemporary art production. By fostering mentorship, skill-building and public engagement, KAAF aspires to support a new generation of artists who can carry forward and reimagine the traditions of printmaking. Above all, it is a space for making, thinking and building a creative community grounded in care, curiosity and shared knowledge.
